Please review some FAQs below
-
I accidentally added myself into a scholarship that I'm not applying for, how can I remove myself from the room?
Email localscholarships@eccrsd.us with which scholarship you want to be removed or you can send a private message directly from the scholarship's Google Classroom.
-
Can I leave the Activities portion of applications blank if I will be listing everything in my resume/essay/autobiography?
No, please still complete all portions of any applications for scholarships. List the most recent information on the application and then you can expand upon that information or provide more information in your resume/autobiography/essay where applicable.
The goal is to make yourself a strong candidate for a scholarship; leaving any portion of an application blank works against this goal.
-
How should I handle Letters of Recommendations?
All letters of recommendations should be sent to you directly so that you can include them when you submit your application and other documents for the scholarships accordingly. Letters of recommendations are only needed for scholarships that request them.
-
What if the person writing my Letter of Recommendation would prefer I not see it?
If the preference is to not have students see the letter of recommendation, please request that the letter be emailed to localscholarships@eccrsd.us clearly indicating for which scholarship the letter is written and the student's name. The letter will be combined with the submitted application when the scholarships close.
-
Do I have to complete the same Local Scholarship Application for each one?
You can complete it once and make a copy of it in your Google Drive. Rename it to have your name but to say something like "General Application". Then, when you open another scholarship assignment, instead of using the pre-named application that is there, you can just attach the one you've already completed.
NOTE: Make sure you are only using the Local Scholarship Application for those scholarships where a special application is not posted.
-
How do I submit the Autobiography with the Local Scholarship Application?
Some students have been able to add their autobiography in the same PDF as the Local Application. Some have simply typed up the autobiography in a Google Doc and submitted it as a separate document. As long as the autobiography is there, you can submit it however works best for you!
-
Do I need to submit my Transcript for every scholarship application?
No, you only need to submit it for any application that specifies a GPA criteria and/or says they want a copy of your transcript.
-
Which GPA should I use?
You can use either the Cumulative or the Cum Weighted, whichever is higher.
-
Undecided college or still waiting for acceptance from several?
You can either just say"undecided" or list the top 3 colleges you've applied to, especially if one is closely related to a scholarship you are applying to.
Ex: If you are applying for a nursing scholarship, and you have applied to any nursing school or a school for their nursing program, you will want to mention that.
-
My parent has a degree from a college/university but has been a stay at home parent, what should I put for "Occupation"?
Common responses are "Domestic Engineer" or "SAHM/SAHD"
-
For "Prizes, contests, or honors of a scholastic..." should we include only those won in high school?
Start with anything in high school, starting with the most recently earned. If you run our of room, or have more notable acheivements, you can expand upon them in your resume and/or Autobiography.
-
For Extracurricular Activities, should I mention all positions I've held within the same club/group/organization?
List all positions you've held starting with the most recent. If you run out of room, or have more club/group/organization involvement you wish to note, you can expand up them in your resume or Autobiography.
